Machinery & Capabilities

Workshop and Machinery

SMI operates a purpose-built 12,000 m² fabrication workshop within a 25,000 m² facility at Km 27 on the Alexandria-Cairo Desert Road. The workshop covers shearing, drilling, rolling, shaping, milling, pipe bending, plate bending and CNC cutting, with a separate outdoor bay for sandblasting and painting. A 1,200 m² covered warehouse and spare parts store supports production.

Heavy Fabrication Lines

  • Four overhead cranes serving the fabrication bays across our workshops
  • CNC plate cutting machine, 16 m x 4 m bed with 6 cutting heads
  • Two built-up section lines for welded beams up to 2 m beam height
  • Submerged arc welding line for beams up to 2 m height
  • Hydraulic 4-roll plate rolling machine: 25 mm thickness, up to 4 m diameter
  • Hydraulic guillotine shearing machine, 16 mm x 3 m
  • CNC flame torch cutting machine, 15 m x 3 m
  • Plate bevelling machine and 100-ton ironworker
  • Flame torch pipe cutting up to 8 inch, oxy fuel cutting to 1.2 m
  • Horizontal band saws (400 mm and 750 mm)

Welding and Workshop Equipment

  • 60 arc welding machines, 6 CO2 (MIG/MAG) sets, 5 argon (TIG) sets, Lincoln submerged arc welding machine
  • Welding electrode heaters: 30 portable units and 2 stationary 180 kg ovens
  • Sandblasting equipment (2 sets) and airless spraying equipment (5 sets)
  • Overhead crane and monorail (5 ton), forklifts 3, 6 and 8 ton
  • 4 lathes, 3 fixed drilling machines, 12 magnetic drills, 100 grinding machines
  • 244 kW standby generator for uninterrupted production
